Carb blocker reviews - The Effectiveness of Carb Blockers for Weight Loss
There are so many different supplements and weight loss methods floating around, and I hear a lot of talk about carb blockers.
Carb blockers are dietary supplements that are supposed to keep your body from absorbing carbohydrates from the foods you eat.
While I’m all for whatever help I can find to improve my weight, doing my due diligence is a must before I start anything new.
Finding out more about carb blockers was my new mission.
What I discovered was that Carb Blockers surfaced around 20 yrs ago.
A few scientific studies tested a compound they called Hydroxycitric acid (HCA for short). This compound seemed to show some promise in decreasing weight.
So the scientific community celebrated and products began adding this compound to supplements for losing weight and controlling appetite.
This was pretty popular, but did not prove to be particularly effective as the studies indicated.
Turns out, they based this all on how rats reacted to the compound.
For some reason, it was not the same result for human beings. Even more recent studies that were done, on a very small, single-blind group of people, showed only marginal success.
Are there any carbohydrate blockers that do work?
There has also been additional research done with an extract of white kidney beans. This becomes an ingredient call "Phaseolus vulgaris," which is found in many popular carb blocker products on the market.
One of these products is called Meratol®.
The studies done on it indicated that this extract produces a decrease in body weight and fat mass.
The conclusions could not be noted as truly significant due to the limited number of subjects; other larger groups would have to be tested before verifiable results can be claimed successful.
The first carb blocker clinically proven in multiple studies to absorb carbs is called Meratol Carb Blocker.
Reportedly, this all natural, non-stimulant does delay carbohydrates from being digested and absorbed.
By doing this, Maratol carb blocker reduces the caloric impact of starchy foods, and helps lower your glycemic index.
I must make a note here, that any of these supplements are best used along with a healthy, sensible diet and regular exercise.
There is not going to be some magical pill that melts away the fat, but Meratol may allow a moderate intake of the high carbohydrate foods while keeping glucose levels in check.

Also indicating an ability to block carbohydrate absorption is the popular green tea.
Green tea may affect an enzyme called amylase in the digestive process. This enzyme is active in digesting starches, and the green tea seems to slow the enzyme’s activity (keeping you from absorbing the carbs).
Regardless of the green tea’s ability to help with the carb blocking, it has a variety of other health benefits for us.
For example, it helps clear our system of toxins and increases metabolism.
How Do I Know if a Carb Blocker is what I need?
That really depends on your own situation. If you are like a lot of people and love the starchy, high carb foods (such as bread, potatoes and pasta), then it may be beneficial to you. It does not eliminate the need for moderation, of course.
Choosing the Right Carb Blocker
When you decide to add a supplement to your diet, it is important to know what active ingredients are when you choose.
While there is a large selection of Carb Blockers around, one of the most popular with customers is Meratol. It contains the appropriate ingredients and so there is a possibility it may prove helpful.
Meratol, since it has shown some positive clinical research and has enough data to show it can be effective and is safe to use.
The Conclusion
Overall, I am not particularly impressed with the reviews and results that I have uncovered in my carb blocker research.
I can’t say that a carbohydrate blocker won’t work at all, but it seems the results are not very significant.
I’ve spent a lot of time studying various dietary supplements and to date, the only dietary supplement that seems to prove really effective is fat blockers.
